Octopia: A Table Inspired by Nature

Octopia's design is centered around a beautifully crafted ellipsoid central body, from which eight legs and arms radiate. This design choice not only adds visual interest but also creates a sense of movement and fluidity. The use of wood, combined with the glass top, allows for a full visual access to the structure, further enhancing its three-dimensional appearance.

What sets Octopia apart is the attention to detail and the high-end craftsmanship. The contrast between the color of the wood veneer on the surfaces and the wood color of the edges adds depth and sophistication to the design. Creating Octopia was no easy task. The designer faced several challenges, including translating the abstract concept of an octopus into a functional table design, achieving balanced proportions, and ensuring structural stability without compromising the delicate appearance of the arms and legs. However, through careful planning and innovative techniques, these challenges were overcome, resulting in a truly remarkable piece of furniture.

The Octopia project began in Geneva in June 2013 and was completed in October of the same year. Its exceptional design was recognized with a Finalist Award at the 2013 London International Creative Competition. Octopia is not mass-produced but rather intended for collectors who appreciate functional objects with a distinct and powerful character.
